The London Centre for Nanotechnology is excited to announce UK Nanoday, a day-long event celebrating nanoscale science and technology. This event will take place on September 8th, 2023 as part of a worldwide celebration of the nanoscale,
We will host events each year on or around September 10th, 10/9, because this represents the nanoscale (10^-9), and we have chosen Friday 8th September as 10/9 falls on a Sunday this year.
UK Nanoday is a chance for the public to learn about the latest advances in nanotechnology and how they are being used to improve our lives.
A flagship event at Imperial College London will feature a range of interactive exhibits, talks, and opportunities to meet and talk with scientists and engineers working in the field.
The organisers are also encouraging other researchers, members of industry, school children and members of the public to get involved too by arranging their own events on or around the 9th of September... These community-led activities will help to raise awareness of nanotechnology, how it is currently used in products that enrich our daily lives, and the challenges and opportunities it holds for the future. You can register your event to be populated onto the UK Nano Day map here

8 September @ Imperial College London
Flagship LCN UK Nano Day Event
Get ready to groove with the molecules, because the first-ever UK Nanoday is here! Hosted by the London Centre for Nanotechnology on Friday, 8th September, this event is set to be a banger! You'll be riding sound and light waves, not at the beach, but at the nanoscale, bringing science and music together in a symphony you've never seen before!
Taking inspiration from the proms being held next door at the Royal Albert Hall, we are taking the party from grand scale to the super, super small. This extravaganza celebrates the minuscule marvels of nanoscience and their mega-impact on our world.
Get ready to be blown away by our dazzling researchers. They're more than just scientists—they're maestros of the nanoworld, crafting a symphony of atoms and molecules, creating innovative solutions that will shape the future of our world. Join us for talks from scientists who are also musicians, hands-on exhibits and great tunes!
Our shindig starts at 18.00 and doesn't stop until late.
Bring your curiosity, love for science, dancing shoes and your jazz hands, and join us in this nano jamboree!

Get Involved with UK Nanoday!
Community-led activities will play a key part in UK Nanoday. Here are a few ways you can get involved:
- Organise lab tours and open houses.
- Coordinate outreach events with demonstrations about nanotechnology.
- Create and share an image, video, illustration, or infographic about nanotechnology: what it is, why it is important, and examples of nanotechnology applications.
- Write a blog post or share a story on social media using the hashtag #UKNanoDay23
- If you are a student or teacher, you could invite a scientist from a local college or university or try one of our experiments out!
