By submitting an application via this portal you are submitting an application for funding only. You must also submit an application for admission via the UCL Application Portal – your chosen supervisor will be able to confirm the programme to apply for.

Candidates must make contact with a proposed UCL LCN supervisor before submitting an application for funding. Regrettably, we are unable to consider applications that are not supported by a LCN @ UCL academic supervisor. Details of UCL LCN supervisors can be found on the Our People webpage. If you are applying for a project advertised on our PhD Opportunities Page, please note any specific requirements detailed on the advert.

By submitting an application using this portal, you will be considered for all open funding opportunities offered by the LCN @ UCL that you are eligible for. This includes studentships funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), the Chinese Scholarship Council, and UCL Graduate Research Scholarship/Overseas Research Scholarships. If you are applying for a specific project, advertised on our PhD Opportunities page, you must indicate this in your supporting statement.

We will accept applications on a rolling basis, until the available funding is exhausted. If you are intending to apply for a specific project, please ensure that your application is submitted by the advertised deadline. You can check the application deadlines on our PhD Opportunities Page, on the Graduate Research Scholarships, Overseas Research Scholarships, and the UCL-China Scholarship Council webpages.

All offers of funding are conditional on being awarded a place on a PhD programme of study at UCL. Hence, as stressed above, you must also make an application for admission via UCL Select.

If you have not heard from us within a month of the application deadline for the award that you are applying for, regrettably we have been unable to proceed with your application on this occasion.
