Academic Visitors

The LCN welcomes enquiries for individuals holding academic posts in other higher education institutions, and from those in relevant industrial positions. We look to host affiliate academics to further enrich our research culture, develop and promote research links, and to provide reciprocal opportunities for our researchers to work and learn from individuals outside of the LCN community.

Admission to the LCN is based upon an application to pursue an academic visitors’ work in a particular area of our research, with collaboration and consultation with academic members of the LCN as appropriate. We welcome enquires from academics from all stages of their careers, with particular encouragement to those in the early stages of their careers. We have on occasion also extended invites to visiting PhD students to undertake research placement as part of their studies.

We do not charge a bench fee to academic visitors, however we ask instead that they contribute to the LCN community, for example through:

  • Delivering an internal seminar about their research
  • Guest Lecturing on a module to students
  • Attending research group seminars (as appropriate)
  • Featuring in an LCN news article/research highlight

Those interested in applying to be an academic visitor should first approach an LCN academic staff member to discuss a potential collaboration. Regrettably, we cannot accept applications that are not supported by a current academic staff member based within the LCN.
