Dr Tabasum Farzaneh was appointed as Business Development Manager in April 2014 and brings with her a strong and varied scientific background, and a thorough grounding in business and strategy.  The LCN has strong relationships with the broader nanotechnology field and a spectrum of external commercial partners.  Tabasum will be largely involved in managing these major collaborations and as such bridging leading nanotechnology and world-class infrastructure with LCN’s corporate, industrial and investment partners.

In her previous role, Tabasum was responsible for leading the creation and development of new products and services for privately owned company, Future Health Biobank in Nottingham, as well as managing the company’s involvement in relevant outsourced research surrounding the storage and use of adult stem cells.  During this time she oversaw the development, launch and marketing of several new regenerative medicine services, which are proving very popular.

Tabasum is familiar with the academic set-up at UCL, having previously held the position of Research Associate in the Molecular Hematology and Cancer Biology Unit at the Institute of Child Health within University College and prior to this, having worked with the Metabolism research group within the Department of Medicine. Tabasum gained a PhD in Clinical Pharmacology from UCL in 2007, following an MRes in Biological Sciences and a BSc (Hons) in Molecular Genetics.  She has co-authored a number of published, peer-reviewed papers and has extensive experience in new grant submission, the identification and exploitation of commercially savvy research and involvement in the surrounding intellectual property.
