LCN PhD Student wins 2013 ABTA Doctoral Researcher Award

To promote and award academic and scientific excellence among young researchers pursuing doctoral degrees in the UK, Association of British Turkish Academics (ABTA) annually announces the ABTA Doctoral Researcher Awards in the following three categories: Engineering & Physical Sciences, Management & Social Sciences, and Biological & Medical Sciences. This award is one of the prestigious awards for PhD candidates or recent graduates in UK. In this year's competition, which had a huge number of outstanding applicants from UK universities - 140 from over 40 universities, Sungsik Lee selected as the 3rd place winner of the Engineering & Physical Sciences category. The award ceremony and presentation took place in UCL's Gustave Tuck Lecture Theatre on 18th May 2013.

            Sungsik Lee is now completing his PhD degree in LCN and Department of EE, UCL where he awarded both Overseas Research Scholarship and Graduate Research Scholarship for his PhD program. His PhD research is focused on device physics and modeling of disordered semiconductor-based transistors. Previously, he studied at KAIST, and worked for ETRI, South Korea. So far, he has published over 40 articles on his research field, including journals, conference papers, and international patents (filed/awarded). He is the winner of the IEEE EDS PhD Fellowship 2011, and is a young professional committee member elected by the IEEE EDS, IEEE, USA. Also, he has been playing the role as a referee and editor of the international journals published by IEEE.
