To help celebrate National Science and Engineering Week 2012, the London Centre for Nanotechnology (LCN) will be taking part in the Big Bang, the UK’s Young Scientists and Engineers Fair, which will run from the 15-17th March at the NEC in Birmingham.
The LCN and the University of Surrey have jointly organised a stand full of interactive exhibits, including games, films and hands-on experiments, called “Schrödinger's Cat in a Silicon Chip”. Researchers from both universities will be at the event to talk to the public about quantum physics, how electrons can sometimes behave like particles and sometimes like waves and how these properties can be harnessed to create a powerful new kind of computer, a quantum computer.
