LCN Professor Geoff Thornton has received a European Research Council Advanced Investigators Grant.
These highly prestigious awards are for established scientific leaders to pursue ground-breaking, high-risk research that opens new directions in their respective research fields.
The grant is for research into energy functional metal oxide surfaces and will include scanning probe, synchrotron radiation and fs photoemission measurements. It runs for five years with a budget of 2.3 million euro.
Professor Thornton commented "'This will give a tremendous boost to our oxide nanostructure research in the LCN, which also benefits from the outstanding LCN theory groups that work in this area".
