LCN student wins First Prize at Division of Medicine PhD Student Summer Meeting 2013

LCN PhD Student Valérian Turbé has won first prize for his poster “Towards a Smartphone Connected HIV Test” at this years Division of Medicine’s PhD student summer meeting. Val has just completed the first year of his PhD in Rachel McKendry’s research team and is jointly funded by industry partners OJ-Bio and a UCL Impact Award. The poster presented his doctoral research into a new generation of mobile diagnostics for HIV based on innovative surface acoustic wave biosensors and llama antibody capture coatings. Val graduated in Materials Science at the University of Strasbourg, France and then worked as an intern at Bio Nano Consulting and project manager at The Welding Institute Cambridge, before beginning a PhD at UCL.
