Nanoparticles
The aim of my project is to detect low concentrations of disease-related enzymes.In order to detect these enzymes, I use colloidal solutions of luminescent semiconductor nanocrystals (quantum dots), functionalized with enzyme-specific peptides. The activity of the enzymes are detected by monitoring the emission signal of the quantum dots. This test is very quick and easy to use and may enable doctors to diagnose diseases earlier.
