Access to LCN Facilities

General Access
To gain regular access to the LCN building users are required to attend a general health and safety induction. In the first instance Ms Denise Ottley (extension 31308, level 5) should be contacted to obtain the necessary forms. The induction is booked with the LCN Safety Officer, Mr John Upton. A flowchart of the process is available.

The LCN Health & Safety Handbook is available for download and is password-protected. Please contact Ms Denise Ottley for access details following your induction.


Laboratory Access
Safety in the labs is the responsibility of the Principal Investigators (PI). To gain access to a lab, a user must first gain general access as described above. If this has already been obtained the user should contact the relevant PI who must conduct a personal risk assessment for the user in question. A flowchart of the process is available.

A safety organisational structure for the laboratories is available for quick reference and identification of the relevant PI.



Clean Room Access
Access to the clean room is restricted and requires specialist training by LCN's Technical Director - Dr Takashi Matsuura. Prospective users should obtain support from their PI in requesting access to a clean room training session from Dr Matsuura.
