Research Interests

Principal current research interests are in magneto-electric (ME) ceramics, and investigations into their structure and coupling of ME properties. Such materials can be developed into tuneable or active materials for use as novel sensors, switches, memories, and many other applications. These ceramics include microwave dielectric materials such as niobates and titanates, piezo/ferroelectrics such as (Ba/Sr)TiO3 and magnetic hexaferrites. I am also interested in the advantages that nanoscale processing using sol-gel and precipitation techniques can confer, the manufacture of specialised forms such as fibres and composites, and combinatorial high-throughput synthesis and analysis of ceramics as a method for the discovery of novel ceramics with unique properties.
