Clinical Senior Lectureship in NanomedicineClinical Senior Lecturer/Honorary Consultant in Nanomedicine,University College London UC & RF Medical School, the London Centre for Nanotechnology, UCL, and the UCL Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Building upon existing strengths in biological nanotechnology and its application to clinical problems (‘nanomedicine’), University College London (UCL) wishes to appoint an individual with an established international reputation in the translation of nanotechnology into clinical practice to lead the future direction and development of nanomedicine at UCL and its associated Medical School and NHS Trust. The London Centre for Nanotechnology (LCN) is an interdisciplinary and multi-faculty research centre that has been recently established on the UCL campus in collaboration with Imperial College, and draws together scientists from the fields of physical sciences and engineering with those from the life sciences and medicine. A key strategic goal ofLCN is to carry out research that has high impact on relevant areas of unmet medical need through the application of the tools and techniques of nanotechnology. Current research, of potential interest to applicants, focuses on the production and delivery of new materials, devices and systems tailored to meet the requirements of clinical practice. Existing translational projects include nanotechnology aspects of clinical imaging and diagnostic sensors. LCN interacts with various UCL- and UCL NHS Trust-wide initiatives in translational medicine, including the recently funded ‘Comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre’. Applicants from any relevant clinical speciality are encouraged to apply, and could include, for example, oncology, neurology, infection & immunity, or clinical imaging. A brief summary of current activities and future research aims, if appointed, should be included. Applicants will have obtained accreditation by the relevant Royal College, or be within six months of obtaining a CCT in a relevant specialty. They should also hold an MD or PhD and be experienced in interdisciplinary research and translating new ideas to the clinic. Full registration with the GMC and entry on the GMC Specialist Register are requirements of this post. Overseas applicants who do not have a CCT will need to contact the relevant Royal College to have their clinical training recognised in order to obtain inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register and include evidence with their application. Appointment will be made at an appropriate point on the new Consultant Clinical Academic pay scale (currently £69,991 - £94,706) plus £2,162 London Allowance. Calculation of basic salary and pay thresholds is based on the seniority indicated on the application form.
